The improper disposal of waste and hazardous materials not only impacts the natural beauty of our region but also poses significant threats to the health and well-being of our community, environment, and wildlife.
We have many ways and places to dispose of rubbish in the Gympie region. Please help keep the region looking its best by taking your rubbish to a waste management facility or putting it in your bin.
Council takes illegal dumping very seriously and has signage and CCTV at known hotspots around the region. If you see rubbish or notice someone dumping rubbish, please report it to council.
Locals and visitors agree it's not OK to use our community as a dumpsite! But a small number of people are spoiling our natural areas for everyone else.
Illegal dumping is a crime, you can be reported and fined.
Illegal dumping is the unlawful disposal of any type of waste material that is 200 litres or more in volume (about the volume of a wheelie bin). Illegal dumping can occur in a number of places including bushland, parks, roadsides, on the kirbside, on private property and outside charity shops. Common illegally dumped items include:
