Summer Safety

Summer Safety

The Queensland summer is associated with sunshine, holidays, swimming and sharing time with family and friends. It is also an important time to consider Summer Safety and the simple steps we can take to prepare for the possibility of extreme weather events, storms, floods, or bushfires.

Summer Safety is an initiative by Gympie Regional Council that aims to help keep our local community safe, with tips to plan and prepare for the summer season. Safety is a shared responsibility, and we want to ensure residents and visitors to the Gympie region have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Council’s Disaster Dashboard provides up-to-date information and warnings relating to bushfires, weather events, road closures, flood mapping and power outages. On the Dashboard you can sign up for council’s free ‘Opt-In Alerts’ service to receive text (SMS) and/or email notifications that will be sent during disaster events. Click on the ‘Opt-In Alerts’ button and follow the prompts to subscribe.
