Buildings in flood hazard areas
Following The Queensland Development Code Mandatory Part 3.5 “Construction of building in flood hazard areas”, new homes or additions to existing homes located within a flood hazard area, are required to install a reflux valve.
The reflux valve has been designed to assist in the prevention of reverse flow, or backflow of wastewater from the sewer or onsite sewerage facility in the event of a flood.
Your reflux valve will need to be fitted by licensed person and needs to be accessible for regular maintenance.
