Cat Ownership

While Council does not register cats, microchipping of cats is mandatory as per The Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008. 

A licence is required if you intend to keep more than:

  • 1 cat over 12 weeks of age in a residential unit that is within a residential complex comprising 2 units or more (e.g. duplex).
  • 2 cats over 12 weeks of age on any other property.

If you would like to apply to keep more than the above amount of cats, an application and approval for Keeping more than 2 animals licence is required.
