The Australia Day Awards is your chance to shine the spotlight on the Gympie region’s achievers; people who have enriched our region’s culture, excelled in sport and made positive improvements to our community.
The awards are held on January 26 each year.

Open to all residents in the Gympie region who have made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years. Watch as Sean Connelly, the 2024 Gympie Region Citizen of the Year, shares his incredible story.
Open to all residents in the Gympie region who have made a significant contribution to the cultural life of the local community or an outstanding achievement in cultural activity(ies). Open to all ages.
Open to all residents in the Gympie region who have made a significant record of achievement in sport. Open to all ages.
Open to all residents in the Gympie region (up to the age of 25 years) who have made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years. No starting age.
Introduced in 2023, this award is open to all residents of the Gympie region who demonstrated a high level of resilience in facing personal or community challenges during the year. It is dedicated to the memory of the late Roxanne MacGregor, who embodied resilience and spent her life championing the cause of people with disabilities in the Gympie region. Her strength, compassion, and dedication are qualities we hope to celebrate through this award.
Open to all community groups or organisations who have made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years, or have staged the most outstanding event.
