Work to begin on Hughes Terrace

Gympie Regional Council construction crews are finalising plans to lay new asphalt over Hughes Terrace, Gympie.

The project involves the partial removal and replacement of the existing concrete kerb and channel, concrete pathway, replacement of the existing asphalt pavement, line marking, new signage and turfing.

Work is scheduled to begin this Monday, 25 May 2020 and will take approximately three months to complete.

Hughes terrace is part of Gympie’s road network which includes residential houses, businesses and is used by motorists to access the Bruce Highway.

This project will also include line marking adjustments at the signalised intersection which will improve turning movements for motorists and reduce delays.

The minor footpath network extension works will make for safer pedestrian use and access to homes and local business.

The road surface itself has reached its end of life and requires replacing to protect the expensive pavement beneath.

The project is budgeted at $300,000 and is fully funded by Council as part of the 2019/2020 capital works budget.
