QUESTION:

We have been contacted about the witnessing of some illegal dumping by volunteers of the Imbil Show Society at the Imbil Showgrounds into a tributary of the Yabba Creek (which of course ultimately runs into the Mary River) at the weekend.

Do you guys have an official comment regarding the allegations levelled within the attached email, which we have been assured has been received by your office?

ANSWER:

Gympie Regional Council is aware of this incident and are investigating accordingly.

In the meantime, council are in the process of implementing some waste disposal education in the area.

Gympie Regional Council encourages residents to report illegal dumping activities when they see them.

Illegal dumping is harmful to our environment and costly to our residents.
