As part of Council’s Corporate Plan 2022-2027, we are committed to achieving our vision by ensuring the community has infrastructure and spaces for living, working, learning, sport and recreation that supports and caters for growth and enables the community to be inclusive, connected and safe. Natural ecosystems are conserved and enhanced, and our built environment embraces biodiversity, sustainability and heritage. One of our strategic priorities is to advance environment protection and planning, identifying priorities, future directions and key actions for biodiversity.
Gympie Regional Council has recently reviewed several policy documents (Environment, Climate Change, and Sustainability) and is aiming to consolidate them into a new overarching Environment Policy.
The proposed new policy will aim to build efficient programs, remove duplication, and engage stakeholders to foster local growth and sustainability. It will focus on improving financial performance by enhancing energy efficiencies, supporting local development, and achieving practical goals using resources available to Council.
Council is seeking input and feedback from residents and environment groups to gauge the community’s views on what environmental and social aspects Council should focus on, through an online survey.
The feedback you provide will help shape the new policy, which will be presented to Council for endorsement later this year.
