On The Surface Of It: Goomeri Back On Kinbombi Water

Gympie Regional Council are now processing surface water from Kinbombi, to residents of Goomeri.

Last month, the media in the filters at the Goomeri Water Treatment Plant were replaced, allowing for the gradual shift from blended bore water to fresh surface water.

“This has been some time in the making,” said water portfolio Councillor Hilary Smerdon.

“The residents of Goomeri have been extremely flexible and patient during this process.

“The Goomeri water supply has always been secure but processing bore water was far from ideal.

“The fact we are now able to process surface water is much better for residents.

“Goomeri’s town water supply continues to be secure,” Cr Smerdon said.

Goomeri is currently on level 3 water restrictions.
