Cooloola Coast Today: 06 September – Green House Tin Can Bay

QUESTION:

Is there more information to the Green Houses that I can use for the next Cooloola Coast Today?

ANSWER:

The shade house will also be used to propagate Pandanus which plays an important role in erosion control on the Cooloola Coast.

Gympie Today: 06 September - Lake Borumba Fish Stocking Association

QUESTION:

Firstly, what prompted the decision to withdraw funding from the LBFSA after such a lengthy association?

Is there any truth to his assertion that the GRC supplied funding to the RBFFC?

If there was money granted to the RBFFC, what happens to that funding now that the event has been cancelled?

How does the council respond to allegations by [member of public] that council's inaction on this matter is adversely affecting both tourism in the Mary Valley and the biodiversity of the river system?

 ANSWER:

Funding was not withdrawn but consolidated into council grants programme which the LBSFA can and have applied for.

Yes. The funding which was provided to the RBFFC was for the “event”. As the event was cancelled Council have allowed them to carry funds over to next year under a new agreement.

Council are not inactive but are requesting that the LBSFA apply for support through an appropriate grant funding programme. Fish stocking of the SEQ Water owned Borumba Dam and waterways is primarily funded by Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Stocked Impoundment Programme, that DAF collect fees for. Should the LBSFA be successful in their Council grant applications there will be no adverse impacts.
