FREE holiday fun at the Gympie Regional Libraries in December

Back

No excuses for being bored these Christmas school holidays! Gympie Regional Libraries have put on a fantastic line up of FREE activities and workshops to keep the little (and big) kids entertained and engaged!

As always, the Gympie Library will be hosting their regular favourites; ‘Thursday Robotics’ and ‘Friday Tinker Table’. Thursday Robotics explores the world of robots in a fun relaxed setting. Friday Tinker Table dives into the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths). Bookings are not required but space is limited.

For the aspiring pilots in our community, make sure to book in for ‘Drone Racing’ on Friday, 17 December. This workshop explores the field of geospatial science and our skills as drone racers. The session is designed for pilots aged 8 and above. Bookings are essential, as space is limited.

Feeling crafty? Join us at the Gympie Library for two Christmas-themed craft activities! Take part in the ‘Scrap Fabric Wreath’ workshop on Monday, 13 December and make a scrap fabric wreath to hang on your door for the holidays. Try your hand at ‘Christmas Tree Decorations’ on Wednesday, 15 December and create Christmas-themed decorations to hang on your Christmas tree.

Prizes for reading? You must be dreaming! Join the Summer Reading Club which is open to all primary school aged children and is free to join with a library membership. Starting in December 2021, record your reading and collect incentives along the way. There are competitions to enter and prizes to win, and it ends with a fabulous finale. All you need to do is register to join in the fun.

As always, don’t forget to stop by your local library branch between Monday, 13 and Thursday, 23 December 2021 and pick up a free take home craft book. Suitable for children aged 5-12 years.
