Hi Art - A special collaboration between students and council
Selected and curated by Gympie Region Gallery, Hi-Artworks, is an annual exhibition celebrating the visual art creativity of Gympie region high school students.
It is an accepted fact that Art gives students a platform to explore their personal insights and investigate ideas through the making process whilst responding to current events and their daily lives. It allows for the vital cognitive development through the practice of higher order thinking and problem solving as well as providing an avenue for creative self-expression.
The Gympie Regional Gallery sees the exhibition as an important part of the Exhibition Program. It supports Gympie Regional Council’s Arts and Cultural Plan as a continued commitment to community engagement and forges strong links between Council and schools.
The official opening event is this Thursday 8 September from 6pm. Everyone in the community is invited along and entry is free.
In conjunction with the exhibition, themed holiday workshops are on offer including Collage on Cardboard Wednesday 21 September and Geometric Shape Painting Wednesday 28 September.
