Have Your Say - Arts and Culture - Gympie Region
The consultation process will enable the community to have their say on two draft documents - the Gympie Region Arts and Cultural Strategy (2023 – 2028) and Public Art Policy (2023).
An online survey, as well as drop-in information sessions and an Arts and Cultural Forum will form the consultation process and help identify relevant priorities to provide a framework for the direction of Arts and Culture in the Gympie region.
Councillor Dan Stewart encourages the community to have a say in the future direction of Arts and Culture in the Region.
“Arts and culture form an important part of a thriving community and help children reach their potential, support innovation in business and provide recreation for older people,” Councillor Stewart said.
“We want to make sure we create plans for the future to accurately reflect the priorities and values of the community. This consultation process enables us to include input from the community to inform the vision and scope of arts and culture moving forward”.
Arts and Culture play an important role in communities responding to, and recovering from, challenges and disasters. This body of work highlights the importance of celebrating the region’s creative community through supporting creative projects and public art. It aims to ensure the currency and formalised recognition of the inherent value and importance of Arts and Culture in the Gympie region, and provides opportunities for community reflection, positive psychological and physical health outcomes, as well as a stronger, more connected community.
Community consultation ends Sunday, 30 July 2023 and aims to provide council and community stakeholders with a mandate to direct resources, leverage possibilities and advocate for greater funding and opportunities for Arts and Culture.
The Arts and Cultural Forum will be held Tuesday 11 July 2023 at the Pavilion, Gympie.
