Live & Local, an afternoon of free live music
Gympie Regional Council is proud to present the third (and final) event in the Live & Local series, which kicks off on Sunday 9 June from 2pm – 5pm in Nelson Reserve, Gympie.
The stage is set to feature performances by Sunshine Coast duos Andrea Kirwin and Claire Evelynn, DUENDE and Gympie’s own, Favourite Kid (previously Aspy Jones). Live & Local promises another stellar afternoon of (free!) live and local music in the park.
Mayor Glen Hartwig said he was pleased to see the Live & Local events so well supported by the community.
“We’re really happy to help bring these events to the region,” Mayor Glen Hartwig said.
“There’s much to be said for making time to spend with friends and family, and Live & Local is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Come down to Nelson Reserve on June 9 and enjoy some free live music in the park for your Sunday afternoon.”
With some incredible performers from Gympie and the Sunshine Coast, the third Live & Local lineup delivers some serious experience and talent.
DUENDE is a Sunshine Coast duo featuring Soula and Isabella Rose. Their dynamic sound is a fusion of mesmerising harmonies, powerhouse vocals and some seriously soul grooving acoustic guitar and loops. DUENDE bring the listener on a journey in cadence that has a profound effect on their audiences. Expect to be mesmerised.
Well known Australian/Fijian singer-songwriter Andrea Kirwin and Claire Evelynn join forces to share a collection of beautifully crafted original songs. Claire performs on Celtic Harp and Andrea on vocals, guitar, harmonica, cigar box guitar and stomp. Together, their performance is spellbinding, and weaves the art of storytelling with soulful melody. This duo has toured with Woodford Folk Festivals Small Halls, up and down the east coast, and at Bay of Island Jazz and Blues Festival and Maleny Music Festival.
Last, but not least, Gympie superstars and dynamic sibling trio, Favourite Kid, are a family collaboration on a musical adventure. Delivering mixed harmonies and vibrant, lively storytelling, with a delightful mix of banter and sibling rivalry, the trio is working hard to release their debut album this year. No strangers to the stage, they’ve played Woodford Folk Festival, Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Fest, Undercover Artist Festival and the Gympie Music Muster.
This is a Live & Local you will not want to miss. Invite your favourite people, bring a chair, roll out a blanket, unpack your picnic and get comfy as you relax into a Sunday afternoon and your new favourite soundtrack.
This event is supported through assistance provided by the jointly funded Commonwealth State-Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
