Major upgrades completed at the Gympie Aquatic Centre
Several important upgrades designed to enhance operations and community experience at the Gympie Aquatic Recreation Centre (ARC) have recently been completed.
The upgrades include the installation of new salt chlorinators, which will enable more efficient and reliable pool water treatment. A new heat pump for the 25-metre Warm Water Program Pool has also been installed which will ensure optimal temperature control.
The outdoor Splash Pad area has also been resurfaced with vibrant Life Floor tiles, enhancing its visual appeal and safety for the children who use it.
Essential grounds maintenance was also undertaken as part of the upgrades, including tree trimming, weeding, and re-mulching of garden areas.
The project received $645,000 in Works for Queensland funding, with Gympie Regional Council contributing the remainder.
Gympie Regional Council Mayor, Glen Hartwig said the recent upgrades to the ARC represented Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving aquatic facilities in the Gympie Region.
“The upgrades to the ARC are designed to greatly enhance the experience for patrons, creating a more enjoyable and welcoming environment,” Cr Hartwig said.
“As part of Council’s 2024/2025 budget, $931,375 was allocated towards our region’s aquatic facilities. The upgrades at the ARC are just the beginning of what residents can expect our staff to deliver across the region this financial year.
We are looking forward to renewal works commencing at Tin Can Bay Public Pool as a priority in September 2024, including a recoat of the pool shell.
Our region’s pools are much-loved public facilities that act as a hub for fun, fitness, and community connection so it’s important we continue to invest in these recreational assets and ensure they’re maintained well into the future.
I would like to thank the Council staff and contractors who delivered these improvements at ARC. It is due to your collective efforts and commitment that our residents can continue enjoying our region’s public facilities.”
Minister for Local Government Meaghan Scanlon said the Miles Government was proud to invest in regional communities through the $1.1 billion Works for Queensland program.
“We’ve already seen the benefits the Works for Queensland program is delivering for local economies, tradies and families across the Gympie region.
“I look forward to seeing the lasting benefits this project will deliver for the local community.”
The ARC works are proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program in association with Gympie Regional Council.
