'Mary Christmas' to bring festive cheer to Gympie CBD

Back

Gympie is gearing up for a stellar festive celebration with the return of the much-loved Mary Christmas community event program this December.

Mary Christmas returns to Mary Street on Wednesday, December 11th, and Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, from 5pm, bringing the same level of Christmas cheer Gympie locals have come to expect.

Mary Christmas will feature activities for the entire family, including late-night boutique shopping, Christmas carols from talented local musicians, and a variety of delicious food vendors and entertainment.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig said the popular event is the perfect occasion to gather friends and family and enjoy the holiday cheer in Gympie’s CBD.

“I’m thrilled to see Mary Christmas back in Gympie’s CBD this year," Cr Hartwig said.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together during the Christmas season while also supporting our local businesses along Mary Street.

“There’s no better time than the festive season to support our local businesses, and with so many fantastic traders at our fingertips, it’s the perfect time to come together, have some fun, and purchase something special for your loved ones this Christmas.

“Mary Christmas is the perfect event for the whole family, and kids can get excited about the return of the trackless train which will offer free Christmas rides up and down Mary Street.”

Festivities will begin from 5pm and finish at 9pm on both December 11th and 18th, with road closures being in place for Mary Street and Smithfield Street from 3pm to 10pm on those days.
