Stage is set for Gympie's NYE celebration
Gympie is gearing up for a cracking New Year’s Eve, with final planning underway for Council’s family-friendly spectacular at Nelson Reserve.
The region will come alive on 31 December, with an exciting program of entertainment set to wow the crowd, including Triple J Unearthed sensation and Queensland singer songwriter AYLA.
Gympie Mayor Glen Hartwig said this New Year’s Eve celebration was shaping up to be our biggest yet, with plans set for just under three weeks’ time.
“We have had an incredible year in the Gympie Region, and now is the time to come together and celebrate what’s great about our community and see in 2025 in style,” Cr Hartwig said.
“Along with a stack of family fun, this year we’ve also got a stellar lineup of musical talent to rock the night away.
“We are delighted to have renowned Queensland artist AYLA headlining a jam-packed live music program which will also include Highly Swung, The Mary Rivers, and Sailing in Space.
“Our family-friendly NYE party will have something for everyone, with offerings including food vendors, a petting zoo, rock climbing wall, circus play space, giant dart board, face painting, and roving entertainers.
“With so much happening, this event is perfect for residents who want to bring in the new year close to home, or for visitors who are looking to check out everything Gympie has to offer.
“The event will finish with a stunning fireworks display, so I encourage everyone to head down to Nelson Reserve on New Year’s Eve to join in the action.”
This event is family friendly and is strictly alcohol free. Picnic blankets are encouraged.
Road closures will be in place on Monkland Street (between Bruce Highway and Jaycee Way), and Jaycee Way (River Road to Monkland Street) from 3pm to 10pm. The Nelson Reserve Car Park (accessed via Jaycee Way) will be closed from 12pm to 10pm. Please observe detour routes and consider using surrounding street and CBD parking.
Council is monitoring the weather closely and will advise the community in advance should the event be impacted due to safety concerns.
