Tree Removal Notice - Lake Alford
Gympie Regional Council advises that a very large Brachychiton acerifolius (Flame Tree) in Lake Alford, located on the eastern side of the lake, has died and requires removal.
The tree started to decline a few months ago, the suspect is root rot. There is no cure and the removal of the tree is required for safety reasons.
To reduce the risk of spreading root rot, unfortunately all timber and wood chips from this tree will be disposed of at a waste facility and is not salvageable.
Scheduled Removal Date: Monday, 13 January 2025, weather permitting.
Replacement: The dead tree will be replaced with a young tree of the same species in an alternative location within the park and a tree species less susceptible to root rot will be planted in the original location .
Community Safety: To ensure the safety of the community during the removal process an exclusion zone will be in place and surrounding footpaths will be closed.
