Gympie Regional Council is inviting all residents to join in celebrating Australia Day at Memorial Park, Gympie, on Sunday, January 26.

The event runs from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and will feature the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig expressed his excitement about this year’s event, emphasising its significance in bringing the community together.

“The Australia Day Awards is one of my favourite community events each year because it provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognise some of our region’s most talented and dedicated individuals who go above and beyond to make our region such a great place to live,” Cr. Hartwig said.

“I’m also honoured to welcome our newest citizens during the Citizenship Ceremony, as they take the pledge to call our beautiful country home.

"I invite everyone to grab their picnic blankets or folding chairs, head to Memorial Park, and show your support for our new citizens and Australia Day Award recipients."

The Australia Day festivities will also feature live music and a free BBQ breakfast, which will be on offer from 7:45 am.
