Saving costs and lowering emissions, one borrow at a time

Gympie Regional Libraries have set out to help households in the Gympie Region cut costs with utility bills and lower their greenhouse gas emissions with their Home Energy and Water Efficiency Kit, which has been kindly donated by Gympie and District Sustainability Alliance.

Available for free to library members, the kit contains a range of useful tools, including thermal cameras to detect heat loss, energy meters to monitor the electricity usage of plug-in appliances, and water-monitoring devices to assist in reducing water consumption.

Gympie Regional Council’s Director of Community Sustainability, Alex Stengl, said providing this kit to local households was a great local initiative for both saving costs and supporting the environment.

“The Home Energy and Water Efficiency Kit is an excellent collaboration between Council and the Gympie and District Sustainability Alliance,” Ms Stengl said.

“It’s important that our community has access to resources like this kit to help manage household expenses while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gasses. Every little bit counts.”

The kit is available for seven-day loan from the Gympie Library Branches to library members.
