Contract awarded for major intersection upgrade in Gympie CBD
The traffic issues at Mellor Street and Station Road intersections in Gympie’s Central Business District (CBD) are one step closer to being resolved, following the contract award during Gympie Regional Council’s 26 February Ordinary Meeting to Offaly Civil Pty Ltd.
With construction planned to commence in the coming months, this project will focus on improving two critical intersections in Gympie's road network.
The intersections at Mellor Street and Station Road will have traffic signals installed which will improve traffic safety and optimise traffic flows. Additionally, the project will improve pedestrian connectivity with the construction of an accessibility ramp over the train tracks near the Station Road Footbridge.
Tozer Street, Mellor Street and Station Road $419,000 project is being funded through the Australian Governments Black Spot Program. Complimentary funding for the Mellor Street, Station Road, Chapple Street and Lady Mary Terrace project is being funded with $1.18 million through the Queensland Governments Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS) with the remainder of the project proudly funded by Gympie Regional Council.
