Gympie's Top Talent Showcased This Weekend

Back

TRAX, an event which is part of Gympie Regional Council’s ‘Live & Local Gympie Region’ event series, is on this Saturday, 21 November from 11am to 2pm at the Gympie Skate Park, 42 River Road, Gympie.

This free music event showcases the best young and emerging music talent that Gympie has to offer.

Artists performing at the event include; Stone Moth, Bethany Murphy, Nicky B and Youkai Geb, plus DJs.

Each artist from Stone Moth brings a different genre to the band. Soul, Hip-Hop, Rock/Funk, Blues and Metal, are just a few of the inspirations driving their creativity. The drive and passion of Stone Moth is what you will hear in any performance they deliver.

From her early days as a church soloist, Bethany Murphy is coming of age as a soulful power pop singer. At 16 she has a voice as ageless as Amy Winehouse with a modern twist.

In true Aussie Rap tradition, Nicky B has enough material to release an album, and thousands of plays on Soundcloud before his debut performance. Nicky's flow impresses and his verses hit you like the hard truth. At 17, and with a long way to go in the rap scene, he's already making a solid start.

Emerging producer and experimental hip-hop artist, Youkai Geb recently released his second album, Woes and Wisdoms. With influences of Japanese culture and anime, Geb also explores the dark side to create his signature vibes. Geb enjoys collaborating and since the pandemic has been working with artists across the country and around the world. Youkai Geb’s music is available on Spotify.

Live & Local Gympie Region started in 2018 and is a live entertainment showcase that aims to support and increase the capacity of the Gympie region’s local music and performing arts sectors through live performance opportunities, working alongside high profile artists, and activation of local performance spaces.

This event is hosted by Gympie Civic Centre and Soundhive.

This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
